Death and Lies and Solutions
An open letter to President Obama
April 6, 2010 - Today's news is filled with new reports of U.S. military atrocities.
These stories are just the tip of the iceberg in the ongoing lies and cover up of America's continuing involvement is the slaughter of innocent civilians. President Obama – As Commander-In-Chief you need to take strong action to quell this activity.
Unfortunately you are listening to the wrong advisors when it comes to War and Peace. Killing is not and should not be the path you follow.
The Iraq War was predicated upon out-and-out lies by the Bush Administration with the support of Britain. That support has finally caught up with the British government which today announced the dissolving of Parliament and new elections that will undoubtedly remove Gordon Brown. The recent Iraqi elections are tainted and Iraq leans everyday toward a full scale civil war.
In Afghanistan President Karzai has blamed foreign intervention for the election fraud and corruption and then went on to claim he was close to joining the Taliban himself. In addition to the stories mentioned above, U.S. and NATO forces are daily involved in the senseless slaughter of innocent civilians.
In Pakistan President Zardari teeters ever closer to being replaced as Pakistanis revolt against the insanity of drone attacks and assassinations occurring everyday.
In Israel the government has literally rebuffed you when it comes to any desire for peace with the Palestinians. They continue to build on illegally occupied territory while demolishing Palestinian homes – many that were build long before the 1967 war. The Israeli Defense Force routinely harasses, jails, tortures, assassinates, and slaughters innocent Palestinian civilians. They carry out these activities with the full support of the U.S. Government. They kill using American made weapons. If anyone complains about any of their illegal activities, they immediately cry Antisemitism while the U.S. Congress pledges their undying support claiming that Israel is and will remain the United States’ most stalwart ally. Jews worldwide are against the continued occupation. http://www.jewishvoiceforpeace.org/
There are other stories in Africa, Iran, Sudan, Somalia and every Middle Eastern country. With each passing day the U.S. makes new enemies; new converts to fanaticism who are more than willing to sacrifice their lives as suicide bombers and “insurgents.”
These are all Wars that you cannot possibly win. Guns, drones, bombs and killing are not the solution. If you want real World Peace, you must stop listening to the war hawks in Washington and the Zionists in Israel. It is pure folly that America refuses to sit down publicly and negotiate with Hamas, Hezbollah, The Taliban, Iran, North Korea and several others who find themselves on the U.S. list of undesirables. What are you afraid of? The longer you put off real open negotiations, the more difficult will become the situation which may eventually bring down your government. Each day spent on the current path only promotes more “terrorism.” Of course, the reality is that many, if not most, of the so-called terrorists are nothing more than people willing to die while protecting their occupied territory and countries. Put yourself in their shoes. What would you do?
The People elected you because they believed that you represented Change. They are not seeing it and if you believe they are, you, sir, are disillusioned. In addition to the senseless slaughter and imprisonment of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians abroad, your own people in America are suffering because the U.S. continues to waste billions on wars and aggression; billions that should be providing Medicare for All, millions of jobs, schools that educate, needed infrastructure, and more. Your priorities are misplaced.
Yesterday you threw out the first pitch. Now it's time for you to step up to the plate and hit a home run by ending this madness you call war, by ending the totally unjustified support of Israel at the expense of the Palestinians and World Peace.
In his most recent tape recording Osama Bin Laden said that US politicians "oppressed us and still do, especially by backing Israel, which occupies the land of Palestine"..."God willing, our attacks against you will continue as long as you maintain your support to Israel. America should not dream of security until we enjoy it as a reality in Palestine,"
During the recent Arab League meeting Arab leaders described U.S. actions as fanning the clash of civilizations. They said that Israel's interests have nothing in common with Arab interests. They asked for a region free of nuclear arms and threats and said that Israel needs to put their U.S. supported nuclear program under the IEAE. The League of Arab States has reissued the 2002 Saudi Peace Plan with no changes or amendments.
Do the right thing. Negotiate openly with everyone. Stop killing. Bring our troops home. End these needless wars. It's time to wage Peace!
